Though a simple idea, we loved this toy and found it engaging enough to keep our young testers' attention. When left to play with this toy alone, they merely used it as a glorified beanbag- tossing and kicking it across the room. However, when played with an adult, children are able to work on identifying objects, building vocabulary, and a developing a variety of language building skills. For example, if a tester exclaimed "Shirt!" while playing, we prompted him with "What about the shirt?", to which he then responded, "The shirt goes on the arm". The physical activity involved with 'shaking' the objects, or tossing the beanbag, provides a nice break from the language stimulation, and that definitely helped keep toddler testers engaged for longer periods of time. This toy is a perfect alternative to a traditional picture book when working on language development with an active toddler. The best part is that it is small and durable, making it easy to have on hand.
